Day 1
The drive from Anchorage to the "End of the Road" offers some of the finest scenery in Alaska. Watch for mountain goats on the rocky cliffs of Turnagain Arm and beluga whales feeding in the ocean flats as you wind around the banks of Cook Inlet. Climbing over Turnagain Pass you are likely to see moose and other wildlife along the highway's
mammoth sloping mountains
and lakes. You will find many pull off area's for pictures, hiking and biking, rock climbing and a picnic. Cutting south from the Seward Highway to the Sterling Highway, follow the emerald green waters of the world famous Kenai River, one of the richest Salmon fishing fishing rivers in Alaska. Salmon fishing float trips down the Kenai or Russian rivers can be added at your request.

Day 2 - Fish & Bear View Tour
Today you will experience the thrill of flying to the west side of Cook Inlet along the Alaska Mountain Range. You will land between two active volcano's Mt. Redoubt and Mt. Spur, both rise 10,000 feet from sea level. The plane descends to the lake where your guide will load you into a 18 foot boat, to begin your day of salmon fishing and bear viewing. The guide provides spinning rods and reels, fishing tackle for sockeye or coho salmon, rain gear, and hip boots. Brown and black bear are typically seen as well as beavers, otters, ducks, loons, swans, and bald eagles. If everyone in the boat agrees (about 4 people) you'll take a mid-day break to view a beautiful waterfall while your guide grills up a salmon on the hibachi. The best bear viewing is June 10 - Aug. 31.

Day 3
Continue the drive south along the Sterling Highway,
this route runs along the western edge of the Kenai Peninsula and features extraordinary mountain scenery, sparkling lakes, glacier-fed streams, and beautiful coastal inlets. Homer is located at the "end of the road" surrounded by the breath taking beauty of Kachemak Bay. The drive from Soldotna to Homer is 1-1/2 hours, giving you the afternoon to explore. Homer residents will tell you they have the best climate, the richest farm lands, and the finest scenery in Alaska. Homer has many different activities to offer, the Islands and Oceans Visitors Center, The Pratt Museum, beach combing, or explore the five mile long finger of land known as the Homer Spit.

Day 4 - Ferry to Seldovia
Today you will ferry the southern end of Kachemak Bay to Seldovia. While in Seldovia you can visit the hundred year old St. Nicholas Church, or sip a hot beverage at one of the local ocean front restaurants, and watch the boats come and go from the harbor. Spend you day exploring Seldovia then re-board the ferry for your trip back to Homer.

Day 5 - Glacier Hiking Tour
6 Miles - Moderate Rating
Today is your day for a little adventure. You will be traveling north eight miles by water taxi in route to the Kachemak Bay State Park. Your hike leader will guide you over the popular Saddle and Grewingk Glacier Trails. This trail passes through stands of birch and cottonwood across the dry out-wash plain of the Grewingk Glacier, and ends at the broad open beaches of Grewingk Glacier Lake. At the lake you will have a prepared lunch, and lots of glacier photo opportunities. After resting on the shores of the lake you will hike down into Halibut Cove Lagoon for your return trip back to Homer.

Day 6
Today your tour concludes as you drive back to Anchorage.

The lake front wilderness cabin is located in Bear Cove at the head of Kachemak Bay.
You will be dropped in Bear Cove at the Loon Lake trail head by water taxi, from there, you will have a 20 minute steep hike up to Loon Lake. The cabin is accessible by canoes available for you at the top of the trail. The cabin is waterfront with a deck overlooking the lake and the mountain ridges of Homer. The cabin is remote, comfortable, and completely secluded. Amenities include a full kitchen, fire pit, barbeque, and a wood fired sauna bath house. Everything for your comfort is supplied at the cabin, the only thing you will need is a change of clothes, and food.
